Complete the 2 step Strata Mecanica process for Angola:
Background
Angola has been one of the most prolific oil producers in West Africa surpassing Nigeria in 2009 when it reached a production of over 1.8 million BOPD. Currently it produces around 1.3 million BOPD and some gas. Located South of Gabon its assets are mainly in deep water offshore producing from three(3) basins, the Congo, Kwanza and Genguela basins.
Production initially exp
loited the carbonaceous formations of the upper Cretaceous also found onshore to then focus on the Oligocene and Miocene origin.
Mechanical & Thermal Conditions
Temperatures and thermal conditions indicates that Angola is an area of moderate heat flow (> 50 miW/m2) and temperatures as illustrated in the following figure (After Lecazeau et al 2006). A highly faulted area Angola offers many structural similarities to those found in the Santos and Campos basins offshore Brasil.
